Content Dump! Plus More to Come!

Hey all!

So my weeks have been really busy with all of this exciting stuff transpiring lately. Some updates:

- It seems as if the Celebration V banner for is FINALLY done! I promise to have it here as soon as they reveal it. I'm really happy with it!!

- I'm now working to convert that banner into a web-friendly version to be used on's Celebration V forums. I'll link that once it goes up.

- I've started a Nintendo 64 cover redesign Art Jam, and will be re-doing Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire!

- I made some more badges just for fun, using old Digital Sketch Cards I did a few months back. I think Ackbar is a great one! Ghost Yoda and Bossk is also here.

- Finally, here is the last exclusive badge I will be submitting to's Badge contest. The folks on those boards have been very receptive and I feel really lucky to have received so much positive feedback!

So as you can see, there's plenty of content in the works that will make its way here very soon! You have my word. =)

TFN Badges

UPDATE: Another!

UPDATE: Here's a new one!

This post is going to be updated a few times (with a bigger update Friday).

Here are my submissions for the TFN Badges contest. First up is Starkiller, based on the new Force Unleashed II trailer!

You can see the illustration I took this from here.

Friday, June 18, 2010 Part 3

Another small update for today (not much content unfortunately), but there are more badges to come in the mean time between Fridays, I promise!

Well, my second draft has been submitted, and approved. There's a few more things to edit before sending it off and it's all done!

I've also received this comment from my contact over at ". . . everyone in the planning crew is blown away by what you've produced so far. In fact, Dustin Roberts who is one of the main guys for the TFN Main site commented that he'd love to see some of your art as main banners for the site."

So there you have it! Looks like this really may be the start of my Star Wars art career. =)

Friday, June 11, 2010 Part 2

Hey all!

I don't have much to report on today, unfortunately. I was going to share a preview image of the TFN banner's first draft, buuuuuuuuuut they asked me to keep it hush hush until the big reveal, which is cool with me! It's gonna be good stuff, I promise ya'll that!

However, I'm also pleased to announce that I'll be working on a (unfortunately, Non-Star Wars) 40+ page graphic novel. I'll mention more about the project in the future, but it's a definite go, and it'll be published by the writer! So we'll definitely be selling copies of that. Exciting stuff!

This one definitely came as a surprise! The folks over at were kind enough to contact me a few weeks ago in regards to a project they needed some help with. They asked for me to submit some rough sketches for a banner, to be used both on their homepage site for a short time, and as a huge, 8 ft. x 4 ft. (although my art would only be 4 ft. wide) printed banner at their table at Celebration V.

For those unfamiliar with Celebration V, it's the Lucasfilm-hosted Star Wars convention (in Orlando this time) that happens every 2 years, and this is the 5th one! This. Is a big. Deal. Lucasfilm always makes sure there's crazy big events going on at this thing, and there's ALWAYS a truckload to see. Plus, it's been announced that George Lucas himself will be visiting this one!

So anyway, they needed an Empire Strikes Back themed banner (as it's the 30th Anniversary this year) and would like it presented in that Clone Wars style of art that I love so much. That's why they came to me!

I immediately got to work and busted out the best proposal I could, including 8 digital sketches (4 of them crudely colored, to give them a rough idea of how I think in the early stages), in addition to some character design. Early yesterday morning, they not only confirmed they would like me to do the banner, but they've already selected the scene of the 8 submitted ideas that they wanted. ALSO, they asked me to submit two of the other ones as submissions for the contest to choose what badges would be worn at Celebration V for all the forum members and staff of! Finally, to top it all off, they said that once the banner is completed, they're going to write an article about me doing the banner work, and link my DeviantArt, my soon-to-be-launched website, AND this blog!

And do you know how all of this this came about? Because, just like Katie Cook suggested (see the post 2 fridays ago!), I posted my work in their fanart forums. Imagine that!! This is a great chance for me to gain some exposure to fellow fans AND to the Star Wars art community that I've so far been unable to reach out to.

Now, I'm not sure if I'm going to be allowed to show it to you folks until announces it (I believe it will technically belong to them), but I can definitely show off the badge submissions I do (which will be separate illustrations).

Without further delay, here are the initial rough sketches presented to those folks when they were considering me for the job. They chose the last one, Frozen Han in the Carbon Freezing Chamber. =) WISH ME LUCK!!

Had to remove the preview image just to be safe! Want to keep the clients happy! Don't worry though, once they reveal the final banner, I'll have that back up here!
